Thomas L. Kane

Title

Thomas L. Kane

Description

This is a picture of Thomas L. Kane, used mostly to supplement the written material. This portrait is of Kane in his Union Military uniform. Growing up in Philadelphia as a son of a prominent judge, Kane surely had a comfortable upbringing, and was not considered an "outsider" of American society. Clearly, he performed patriotic duties by fighting in the Civil War. However, his upbringing did not dilute his reforming drive, as in his adult life, he leveraged his position in mainstream American Society to improve public relations with the members of the Church of the Latter-Day Saints.
