Nostrums and Quackery

Title

Nostrums and Quackery

Description

The American Medical Association reprinted Articles on the Nostrum Evil and Quackery, with Additions and Modifications, in two volumes. They contain reports of the fraudulent nature of patent medicine and the detrimental effect that they have had on American society, for they cause drug addictions and worsen health conditions. They also provide advertisements from the late 1800s to early 1900s that claimed the "cure-all" efficacy of these drugs, when in fact, they were false claims that took advantage of "Gullible America."
